Wasp Bane
Designed and developed over six years, Waspbane is a unique high efficiency trap for eradicating nuisance wasps. If used early in the season, whole populations of wasps can be decimated and in garden situations the beneficial effects of wasp predation on other garden pests will be lost.

The Waspbane trap contains no pesticide or pheromones. Its secret formula, based upon natural materials, is highly attractive to wasps yet remarkably is not attractive to bees - making it an ideal way to protect your hives without harming your bees! The trap will catch flies and occasionally apple moths but in all field studies, including in organic plum orchards, Waspbane has given high levels of protection. In most cases one trap will last all season without requiring replacement of the bait chamber.

Around the end of June in most seasons, the number of wasp larvae declines triggering a crisis in the colony. The larvae secrete sticky sugar syrup which is used as the normal food source by the workers.

Unlike homemade traps, the unique Waspbane design allows upto 7000 wasps to be captured without giving rise to bad odours from decaying attractants and wasps! Once the trap is full, the safety device prevents any remaining live wasps escaping and stinging you as you replace the bait chamber. The full bait chamber should be disposed of in normal household rubbish. It is not recommended to re-use the bait chamber for any purpose! |
To best protect your hives, place one or more Waspbane traps around the perimeter of your apiary - do not stand it on your hives as you will attract the wasps directly to your bees!! The Waspbane trap may be hung in trees or left free-standing and can be re-positioned downwind to maximise its interception of worker wasps approaching the apiary.
